‘Dnepr press Steel’ plant provides services of free forging. Free forging is a process of plastic deformation of the metal heated to a certain temperature, which occurs under the action of successive blows of the hammer striker or under the pressure of the press. As a result, the metal flows indefinitely in all directions in the space between the strikers and takes the form of a given forging. In most cases, forging is a billet for further machining. Forging not only changes the shape and size of the processed metal, but also improves its structure and mechanical properties. It grinds and compacts the grains, as well as eliminates the inner shells and bubbles. Free forging is usually used to produce single forgings of various shapes and sizes, as well as in producing of small batches of forgings. The free forging is divided into manual and machine.
THE BASIC OPERATIONS OF HAMMER FORGING
The main forging operations: sludge, piercing, broaching, bending, cutting, forging welding and twisting.
Due to the sediment there is a decrease in the height of the billet. This process helps to increase the cross section. There could be complete (whole billet sediment) and incomplete sediment (sediment only one piece of the billet). Incomplete sediment is often called a engineering fit.
Broaching is used to increase the length of the billet by reducing its cross section. The process takes place while the compression hammer strikes the billet from its middle to the edges.
Piercing is the operation performed in order to get a hole in the forging. To do this, the forging is heated, then is put over the hole in the anvil and stroked by the punch, which is installed on top.
Felling allows you to divide the forging into parts. The billet is notched with the chisel, then rotated 180 degrees and cut off.
Forging welding is used to fasten metal parts. Certain welding locations are heated to the desired temperature, and then parts are welded with small blows of the sledgehammer.
Also, the ‘Dnepr press Steel’ plant provides the following services:
1. Reforging of given raw materials from carbonized, structural, stainless steel and titanium alloys;
2. Metal cutting on band saw machines BEHRINGER (Germany):
Cutting on a band saw is a mechanical method of metal processing using a band saw blade stretched over two pulleys in the machine body.
3.Heat treatment of steel, metals and alloys — annealing, normalization, quenching and tempering.
